CISVA Schools: Living Catholic Social Teaching Through Generosity and Service
The Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese Administrators Association (CISVAAA) is proud to announce a remarkable achievement for the 2023/2024 school year: CISVA schools collectively raised $37,091 for Catholic charities. This inspiring effort vividly reflects the guiding principles of Catholic social teachingespecially our unwavering commitment to compassion, service, and solidarity.
Giving With Heart: A Breakdown of Generosity
$12,057 was directed toward international organizations supporting children, including Chalice and the Holy Childhood Association. CISVA students and families helped children in need all over the world, demonstrating a global spirit of solidarity.
$25,034 was dedicated to local RCAV (Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver) charities, such as The Door is Open and The Archbishop’s Priorities. These gifts directly supported the vulnerable within our own Vancouver community, embodying authentic care for our neighbors.
Connecting to Catholic Social Teaching
Catholic social teaching calls each of us to live out Christ’s love by building just, compassionate communities. CISVA schools put these teachings into action every day:
Dignity of the Human Person: Every gift offered, whether for international children or local neighbors, affirms the preciousness of every life.
Solidarity: By reaching out both globally and locally, CISVA students stand with the poor and marginalized, reminding us we are one human family.
Preferential Option for the Poor: Our fundraising focuses on those most in need, carrying forward the Church’s tradition of prioritizing the vulnerable.
Community and Participation: These achievements were only possible through teamwork, collaboration, and the active involvement of students, staff, and families.
Inspiring a Culture of Service
At CISVA, community service is not an extra it’s central to our identity as Catholic schools. When our students roll up their sleeves to help others, they become living witnesses of the Gospel. Their generosity brings hope not only to those who receive, but also to those who give, enabling the entire community to grow together in faith, compassion, and courage.
Our Ongoing Mission
The Administrators Association applauds every student, parent, and educator whose hard work made this fundraising possible. As we look to the future, let’s continue to make Catholic social teaching a daily reality in our schools:
“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” (1 John 3:18)
Together, we’ll keep building a world marked by justice, peace, and the joy of serving others—one act of kindness at a time.
