Faith Development Day 2025 Recap

On August 27, 2025, the Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese (CISVA) experienced a profound moment of unity at Faith and Development Day 2025, where over 1,200 educators from 45+ Catholic schools came together in formation, celebration, and renewal of mission.

The day featured keynote speaker

Pete Burak, whose message challenged and encouraged educators to continually deepen their own faith so they can authentically lead young people to Christ. His engaging witness resonated deeply with participants, leaving them with renewed hope and conviction about the vital role of Catholic education in today’s world.

Pete is a nationally recognized Catholic evangelist, speaker, and writer, currently serving as Vice President of Renewal Ministries and Director of their young adult outreach: id. He holds a Master of Arts in Theology from Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit and is a graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville. Pete is a frequent speaker on topics such as discipleship, evangelization, and intentional Catholic leadership, and is known for his dynamic approach to engaging young adults and building vibrant faith communities within the Church. He is also co-director of Pine Hills Boys Camp, a columnist for Faith Magazine, host of the Spirit-filled Leadership podcast, and is actively involved in national Catholic initiatives. Throughout the day

music, prayer, and communal reflection strengthened bonds across the Archdiocese, uniting teachers, administrators, and staff into one vibrant educational family.

Why It Matters

Faith and Development Day is not simply a professional in-service; it is a defining expression of the Catholic identity and mission of our schools.

  • Teachers and staff are spiritually and professionally renewed, empowered to bring authentic Catholic witness into their classrooms.

  • Parents and families find reassurance that their children are educated by men and women who not only teach well but also live out the Gospel daily.

  • Students benefit most of all: they encounter Christ through inspired educators who integrate faith and learning with joy and conviction.

This year’s Faith and Development Day

reaffirmed CISVA’s mission of forming the whole person, mind, body, and spirit, through Catholic education of excellence. It was a moment of encounter, of renewal, and of witness, reminding us all of why CISVA remains a leader in Catholic education in Canada.
